Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Accountant to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.

The selected candidate will report to the Manager of Accounting, and will work with their team to provide support for billing activities to ensure strong processes and controls are in place. The selected candidate will also provide value added services to our partner sectors. The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented, have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and have strong written/verbal communication and organizational skills.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Apply principles of accounting to compile and analyze financial information to prepare Government and Commercial billings (Cost Type, Time and Material, Firm Fixed Price Progress Payments, Milestones, and Performance Based Payments) and perform detailed analysis of billings, collections in support of NGAS Business Sector contracts
  • Preparation, review and submission of highly complex customer billings
  • Review customer billings prepared by staff for compliance of contract terms and conditions and established department policies and procedures
  • Maintain and oversees collection of aged billed receivables
  • Miscellaneous accounts receivable reporting and resolution of payment issues
  • Analysis of unbilled balances
  • Support monthly cash collection and forecasting goals
  • Heavy interface with internal and external customers
  • Support banking and treasury requirements
  • Support DCAA incurred costs and billing audits
  • Special projects as needed

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business-related discipline with 6 years of accounting, finance, or business-related experience, or a Master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business-related discipline with 4 years of stated experience
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accounting degree
  • Government contracting experience
  • Familiarity with GAAP, FAR, CAS, IFRS
  • Exposure to financial reporting systems, particularly SAP and Business Warehouse
  • Experience with Excel pivot tables and macros

Salary Range: 76200 - 114400

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
