Northrop Grumman Enterprise Services is seeking qualified candidates for an Inventory and Fixed Asset Accounting Manager 2 role. The manager leads a geographically dispersed team responsible for maintaining fixed asset financial records essential to representing the company's operating capital and providing leadership and guidance of the material costing systems and records. The position supports Northrop Grumman operating sector(s) and reports to the Director, Accounting Services.  

This position is not location specific but must be within commuting distance to one of these main campuses: El Segundo, CA / Palmdale, CA / Melbourne, FL. Working remotely will be available on a part-time basis. Candidate must have the ability to obtain Government Secret Level Clearance to support Classified programs (if not currently active).

The position has oversight of the following inventory (material) and fixed asset (property) accounting responsibilities:

  • Support company operating sectors for activities related to material and inventory cost records and company owned fixed assets within SAP, including reporting of actual and forecast data.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate accounting within our system of record for fixed assets and material/inventory costs.
  • Providing guidance, support, and monitoring to ensure the appropriate capitalization requirements, depreciation methods and recommended useful lives are applied to all company owned fixed assets.
  • Preparation, review, and approval of journal entries.
  • Execution of month end, quarter and year end accounting close requirements, including reporting and analysis of accounting conventions.
  • Performance and review of account reconciliations, including inventory analysis, material/inventory balance sheet accounts, and review of trial balance.
  • Providing leadership and guidance for SAP Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Inventory Management, Grouping Pegging Distribution (GPD), and Cycle Counting related transactions.
  • Supporting enterprise system conversions or upgrades. Responsible for ensuring design, testing, training, and implementation/conversion of data is complete and accurate prior to and post Go Live.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensures compliance with company policies & procedures and with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Frequent collaboration with stakeholders at various management levels.
  • Consult on accounting theories and regulations regarding unique business transactions.
  • Champion for process automation/improvements efforts and system changes. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to processes, policies, and practices.
  • Serves as financial representative on relevant boards, including the Material Management and Accounting System (MMAS) board.
  • Leadership and monitoring of projects to ensure they are completed within budget and on time.

Basic Qualifications - to be considered for this position you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance, or related field and 9 years related experience OR 7 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree.
  • At least 3 years' of prior management experience, including performance management requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, CAS, FAS, and MMAS requirements.
  • Experience with being a SOX control owner, and supporting internal and external audits.
  • Demonstrated experience serving multiple customers and their requirements, and/or working in a shared services organization.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Level Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications - candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Active Secret Level Clearance.
  • CPA.
  • Demonstrated experience with process and SAP system capabilities within manufacturing (i.e., Cost Accounting, MRP, Inventory, Production, including SAP Grouping, Pegging, and Distribution (GPD)) and fixed assets
  • Professional experience with Government Contracting.
  • Strong digital transformation and data analytics skills.


Salary Range: $102,500 USD - $178,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
