Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) Principal Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our South Bay Aircraft Design Center organization. This role is located in El Segundo, California.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and develop flight-critical and safety-critical systems for control of an aircraft
  • Define system key capabilities, performance requirements, and design and technology maturity constraints in accordance with customer specifications
  • Define, develop, and manage system interface definitions, implementation approach, and requirements
  • Perform technical planning, analysis, system integration, and verification and validation to ensure that system performance meets customer requirements.
  • Investigate and resolve system anomalies
  • Support laboratory, ground, and flight testing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5 years of related engineering experience OR a Master’s Degree (STEM) with 3 years of related engineering experience OR a PhD Degree (STEM)
  • Experience with engineering integration & test
  • Active DOD Secret or higher security clearance
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with design, development, and/or integration of Air Vehicle systems and subsystems
  • Integrated hardware/software verification & validation experience
  • Experience with engineering modeling and simulation
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, organize work, manage time, plan, and prioritize

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
