Northrop Grumman is one of the industry leaders in Stealth Technology. As such, we are involved in all phases of development, production, and maintenance of Low Observable (LO) platforms.  We are currently looking for experienced Low Observable / Radar Cross Section (RCS) /Survivability Engineers with leadership skills and vision to help chart or path into the future.

We are seeking highly qualified, mission-oriented Survivability Engineers to pushing the boundaries of technology and lead their team to achieve unparalleled success.

At this time, Survivability Engineering is seeking two Section managers to lead our teams in Survivability Materials Engineering and Survivability Strike Program Support.

Essential Duties for Survivability Section Manager:

  • Operate effectively in a dual-hat position fulfilling the responsibilities of section management (up to 20% of time) and existing program/projects or other responsibilities (80% or more of time).
  • Deploy your team to meet program and sector goal, measure your team’s success, provide guidance and appropriate course corrections, improve applicable engineering processes 
  • Encourage skill development and mentor your team of survivability engineers (12-20 personnel)
  • Strengthen your team through hiring, development, training and retention of skills and talent
  • Encourage inter-team collaboration and support
  • Maximize your team’s legacy and diversity of skills and experience and through hiring both external experienced and university hires
  • Provide leadership and direction to team members and manage employee performance
  • Facilitate day-to-day operation of the organization including employee movement and balancing of resources among programs and resolving critical/urgent program/technical issues


Preferred Candidate Will Poses the Following:

  • Advanced Technical Knowledge, Skills and Experience within the specific Survivability Discipline; for this role, a knowledge of Survivability Materials or LO Strike support is preferred.
  • Experience leading a team of diverse individuals toward a common objective
  • Previous experience leading projects in the SAP/SAR environment; strong project management and team development skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
  • 5+ years of direct experience leading teams and managing projects
  • Active DoD TOP SECRET clearance, within 5 years of last investigation
  • Existing program access current program areas
  • MS degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, materials science or chemical engineering; physics; chemistry; computer science; applied mathematics

Basic Qualifications:

  • A working knowledge within the specific Discipline and the ability to research options and collaborate with the team to achieve the required goals; for this role, knowledge of Survivability Materials or LO Strike support is required.
  • Experience working in a dynamic team environment with the responsibility of achieving multiple simultaneous objective
  • Good written and verbal communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and 9+ years of engineering experience or 7 years and Master’s degree
  • Active DoD SECRET (or higher) clearance, within 5 years of last investigation
  • The ability to get and maintain a special access program clearance

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Salary Range: $143,500 USD - $215,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
