Northrop Grumman’s Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Manager of Tool Die Making 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.  

The Tooling Manager:

  • Is familiar with current concepts, practices, and procedures utilized in the field as well as having a strong interest in new technological applications.

  • Insures Tooling support of build/maintenance for production transition and sustained efforts.  

  • Establishes, maintains, and improves processes/procedures to support program efforts and supports the promotion of consistent current and common tool sets & processes across the organization, program IPTs, by collaborating with other Aeronautics Systems Sector Tooling Management.

  • Monitors and manages Risk items to insure mitigating actions are effective and timely and promotes Lean, Knowledge Management, and other process improvement initiatives as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization.

  • Management duties include personnel performance evaluation, merit planning, employee development, and utilization of EVMS to manage direct costs.

  • Supervises employees involved in the daily operations of fabrication of tools, building of jigs and fixtures, template and pattern making, and model building.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED with 5 years of manufacturing/aerospace/design/tooling/tool engineering, manufacturing engineering, integration and/or fabrication industries/experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

  • The ability to work 2nd shift (1:30-11p), and support other shifts as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Tool Die Making or Machine Shop Experience strong background in assembly tooling, machine shop operations, welding, periodic tooling inspections, verification's, and reworks


Salary Range: $98,800 USD - $148,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
