Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Assembler – Fuel Cells to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, CA.

In this role, the Aircraft Assembler – Fuel Cells will be expected to:

  • Assembly, installation, rework, adjustment, and testing of Environmental Control System assemblies, and portions of systems of pre-production, developmental, or production aircraft.

  • Determine locations, identify, and relationship of parts from production blueprints and adequate information to assemble, install, rework and adjust airplane Fuel assemblies and portions of systems.

  • Work with jigs, fixtures, and tooling or without them when work operations do not require their use.

  • Improvise simple production aids such as holding clamps to assist in accomplishing assembly or installation operations.

  • Routine pressure testing for malfunction or leaks previous to or after installations, including filling Fuel lines and checking for leaks.

  • Perform such work in other fields as is necessary to complete assignments.

  • Use blueprints and production illustrations to obtain easily identified reference information and process and material callouts.

  • May work with the assistance of lower classified employees; may assist higher classified workers on occasion.

  • May direct and train other employees as assigned.

  • Perform pickup, repair and rework as necessary where the type and kind of work is within the level of difficult required to perform the regular assignments of the classification.

  • Use simple blueprints and schematics.

  • Use arithmetic involving decimals and fractions.

  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

  • May be required to work in confined space.

  • Maintained required certifications and qualifications on area of specialization.

  • Must be able to utilize computer-based systems to perform duties.

  • Must be willing/able to work any shift or schedule.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Must have two years related fuel experience.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Must have two years related systems (Fuel, Hydraulic, ECS, Electrical) experience. 


Salary Range: $19 USD - $37 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
