Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector is hiring a Manager, Mission Assurance 3 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is located in Elkridge, MD, and will have functional leadership responsibilities for the Troy Hill site.  

This position will report directly to the VP of Operations for the Airborne Multifunction Sensors Division. The Mission Assurance manager will be the POC for quality management integration across the site. This leader will serve in a key leadership role providing oversight of the quality management system across a broad set of sustainment and production programs at multiple locations. This includes operations diagnostics and performance consulting for performance, leadership, team assessment and program facilitation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership that fosters an inclusive, motivated, and engaged work culture.
    • Manage Quality operations a program or a function within the larger organizational unit, setting & operating to objectives & providing guidance to subordinates based on goals, objectives & company policy.

    • Regularly performs analysis of alternative courses of action. Decisions have risk/reward implications for program or area of influence
    • Establishes operating procedures that affect organizational unit(s). Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to organizational policies. Establishes operating policies and procedures that affect subordinate organizational units.
    • Collaborate and coordinate with site functional teams to achieve product and site goals and overall program quality, delivery, and cost objectives are achieved. Provide proposal support.
    • Accountable for Quality resource, staffing, and budget planning
    • Accountable to ensure Quality Management System is effective and followed.
    • Review trend metrics and analyze misses
    • Facilitate root cause determination and resolve quality issues, including non-conformance (NC), corrective action (CA)
    • Ensure functional management goals and processes are meaningful, data driven, and being executed to plan.
  • Effective communication with various level leaders, internal workforce, and external customers to include local DCMA leadership.
  • Team with multiple functions to implement World Class Manufacturing, using agile and lean principles to promote the continuous process improvement and personnel training and development.

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant work experience OR a Master’s Degree with 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management systems and certifications
  • Ability to communicate, manage and achieve Troy Hill site and NGMS sector tactical and strategic goals.
  • Experience with problem solving techniques to determine Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA)
  • Experience in disciplines such as mission assurance, quality, program management, engineering and/or manufacturing
  • Personnel management experience (IPT leadership or direct-line management)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strong analytical skills
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Customer interactions, including DCMA
  • Defense Industry experience as a Program or Project Manager, Quality Manager, Engineering Manager, or Manufacturing Management
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification to drive continuous improvement.
  • Financial planning, budgeting, and earned value experience for both proposals and program execution
  • Demonstrated understanding of the program / product lifecycle in the areas of new business pursuit, design, supply chain management, receiving operations, inventory control, production control, product test & evaluation, reliability, root cause analysis, product sell off, shipping and product support (as they apply to quality)
  • World Class Manufacturing familiarity
  • MS or MBA degree
  • Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $148,300 USD - $222,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
