Northrop Grumman is actively seeking a motivated defense/aerospace professional with the demonstrated ability to proactively create, cultivate, and enhance relationships with current and potential customers and key contacts in Government to identify, develop, and capture new business opportunities. The responsibilities of the position will balance external customer relationship management activities with internal support of the daily operations of the Advanced Propulsion and Control Systems (AP&CS) business development team. The Business Development Representative role reports directly to the AP&CS Business Development Manager.  The AP&CS business development team supports development activities at Northrop Grumman’s Elkton, MD, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Ronkonkoma, NY facilities. These facilities develop advanced propulsion systems such as advanced solid rocket motors, air-breathing ramjet and scramjet systems, NG and Air Force/NASA hypersonic ground test facilities, and advanced divert and attitude control systems (DACS).

The Business Development Representative will;

  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential customers, Lead System Integrators and stakeholders within the Advanced Propulsion market segment.
  • Gather intelligence through customer interaction and market analysis to identify strategic new business opportunities.
  • Prepare consolidated business development capture plans and pursuit briefings in support of new business acquisition.
  • Participate as a member of capture teams for key captures.
  • Work proactively with external customers, internal stakeholders, and business development teams across departments and business segments to execute structured and planned business development and capture initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver customer presentations communicating recommended advanced propulsion solutions addressing requirements critical to providing lethal overmatch to the Warfighter.
  • Develop presentations and white papers communicating growth strategies and plans for legacy and advanced propulsion programs to senior management within the Missile Products Business Segment.
  • Coordinate customer visits, internal meetings and web-based conferences in support of new business development.
  • Perform research activities in support of new business development, capture strategy, and proposal development.
  • Maintain a business development CRM database for all active advanced propulsion new business opportunities and pursuits.

This requisition may be filled at either a Business Development Representative or Principal Business Development Representative   Basic Requirements Business Development Representative:
  • 3 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 1 year of experience with a Master’s degree
  • 2-8 years working within the aerospace and defense industry
  • Solid understanding of the DOD market and acquisition processes.
  • 3 years’ experience in Business Development, Marketing, Engineering or Program Management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective and successful negotiations.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to function in an uncertain and changing environment
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to acquire a Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
Basic Requirements Principal Business Development Representative:
  • 6 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 4 years of experience with a Master’s degree
  • 4-8 years working within the aerospace and defense industry
  • Solid understanding of the DOD market and acquisition processes.
  • 3 years’ experience in Business Development, Marketing, Engineering or Program Management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in effective and successful negotiations.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to function in an uncertain and changing environment
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to acquire a Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
Preferred Requirements:  
  • Technical degree in a STEM field
  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • Prior experience with advanced propulsion systems such as advanced solid propulsion, air-breathing ramjets/scramjets, hypersonic ground test facilities, and/or divert and attitude control systems.
