Our employees are not only part of history, they’re making history. Northrop Grumman Weapon Systems is currently seeking an Associate Cost Estimating Analyst for our Elkton, Maryland location. The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers.  The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, Palm Beach Gardens, FL and San Jose, CA. Position Summary: This position is responsible for partnering with the proposal manager and the rest of the proposal team to respond to customers request for pricing (RFP). The role is responsible for generating proposal input in conjunction with other proposal team members to generate cost estimates.  This may include developing labor and material estimates, creating program structure and time phasing, and developing and applying standards.  The Associate Cost Estimating Analyst will prepare and assist the proposal manager with delivering presentations in management pricing reviews. The Candidate must be proficient in managing and prioritizing multiple project-oriented tasks effectively while working both independently and in a team-oriented environment. Candidate must be able to review request for proposals and derive requirements as well as identify risks and opportunities to the cost estimate. The selected candidate must work well in cross functional teams and be able to make timely decisions possibly without 100% of the data available. The analyst must develop business cases, participate in pricing reviews, and be comfortable presenting to senior leadership. The analyst will be required to participate in the customer negotiation process, support potential audit activities, and prepare cost volume reports.

Basic Qualifications: A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:
  • Be completing or has completed a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or higher (unofficial academic transcripts must be provided at time of application by uploading the documents to your application or profile)
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel with past experience building complex spreadsheets including macro development
  • Prior leadership experience (professional/community/extracurricular)
  • Ability to work in a team environment and build relationships with others
  • Possess excellent analytical, problem solving and reporting skills
  • Independent self-starter and proactive contributor. Seeks to continually improve business processes and add value.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.  
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in order to meet deadlines.  Organize deliverables in a clean and presentable format.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.7/4.0 or higher
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge/capability of using VBA to create and edit macros
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR/CAS
  • Ability to read drawings and convert drawing information into Bills of Material and program structure
  • Negotiation experience
  • Previous finance internships/co-op or other work experience
