We are currently seeking a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to lead the System Airframe design and development engineering efforts on our Next Gen Strike Weapon missile program with our talented Advanced Weapons team in Northridge, CA.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the systems engineering lifecycle of missile / weapon system development programs. They will also have the technical depth on the Airframe segment of the missile system.
This candidate will support the Program Manager on the proposal and program planning for the various systems engineering efforts on the program. This position will require close collaboration with team members of other projects to leverage on existing technology as well as working with the program team to innovate system architecture to adapt to the industry and customer’s needs.
In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):
- Lead Airframe engineering team (e.g., mechanical engineering, structural engineering) to support proposal and program planning; develop basis of estimates and support the development of the technical volume.
- Identify staffing and resource needs on the program; allocate available resources to best support the proposal and program activities
- Perform requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability, to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into systems requirements, and further allocate to lower-level requirements
- Perform structural and thermal analyses and trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance
- Lead the effort of System Airframe integration, test, and requirements verification activities
- Define and track system technical performance measurement
- Generate well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents
- Prepare system engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally/IPTs to establish and maintain coherent information among team members in an integrated digital environment
- Support the PM and Chief Engineer to make well-structed decisions for program execution.
- Act as an advisor to inter-organizational management and external customers on advanced technical research studies and applications
- Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met
- Manage critical subcontractors for the developing and testing of tactical missile technologies and delivery of quality products

The selected candidate for this position is required to be on-site in Northridge, CA.
Basic qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
- Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline and a minimum of nine (9) years of systems engineering experience
- Must have missile airframe development/structural/mechanical engineering experience
- Must have technical leadership experience
- Must have proven experience in communicating with all levels of peers, management, and customers in a methodical, detailed and process-oriented fashion.
- Must have demonstrated experience in developing advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret Clearance with periodic reinvestigation within the last five (5) years.
- Experience working in the aerospace industry or weapon systems
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
- Experience with Digital Engineering
- Experience with Requirements Management Tool, e.g., DOORS

Basic qualifications for a Principal (T03) are:
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics
- Current/active U.S Government issued DoD Secret Clearance - issued or adjudicated within the past five (5) years.
- 5+ years C/C++ programming experience.
- Experience in software implementation of System Security concepts/solutions (AT, Cyber)
- Experienced in embedded systems software development, integration and testing.
- Experienced in CMMI Level 3 software development processes
Basic qualifications for a Sr. Principal (T04) are:
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics
- Current/active U.S Government issued DoD Secret Clearance - issued or adjudicated within the past five (5) years.
- 9+ years C/C++ programming experience.
- Extensive experience in software implementation of System Security concepts/solutions (AT, Cyber)
- Experienced in embedded systems software development, integration and testing.
- Experienced in CMMI Level 3 software development processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics
- Current/Active TS Clearance
- Working knowledge of aircraft interfaces and weapon system integration
- Object-oriented design and implementation
- Unified Modeling Language (UML): Rational Rhapsody or similar
- Knowledge in System Security concepts/solutions (AT, Cyber)
