The Mechanical Engineering group is hiring for a Manager Aeronautical Engineering - Electronics Packaging capable of leading a team of Packaging Engineers in design, test, production, and product compliance tasks at our Chandler, AZ location.
Essential Functions:
- Lead by example, ensure proper cross-training of the team, and make sure the team understands the requirements of the Program related to the individual tasks that are being assigned to the team
- Conduct periodic meetings with the team to review the ME performance relative to the Program schedule
- Lead a team of 5-15 people as both a technical leader and personnel manager, responsible for reviewing engineering work product and employee performance Based on broadly defined problems, studies basic design concepts and criteria for complex materials, components, or functional systems and applies the engineering principles involved to develop new designs
- Effectively communicate to bridge the gap between Budget and Schedule needs and technical requirements in order to solve both design and production problems daily
- Perform a high variety of work that requires being similarly dynamic on a daily basis
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) and 5 years of related engineering experience, OR a Master’s in STEM and 3 years related experience, OR a PhD in STEM
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance or higher
- Experience resolving conflict while considering the inputs of multiple engineering and operation disciplines
- Experience leading a team of engineers
- Basic Mechanical design analysis experience (Tolerance Analysis, Bolted Joint Analysis)
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) experience
- Experience in review of work instructions
- Experience in drawing creation, release, and review processes (Siemens NX and Teamcenter preferred)
- Experience working with a multidisciplinary team on long term design projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electronics packaging, or Aeronautical Engineering
- 5 years engineering management experience
- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Electronics Packaging design analysis experience (Board Deflection Analysis, Vibration Analysis, Thermal Analysis, Keepout Analysis)
Environmental test experience (Vibration, Shock, Thermal Cycling, Thermal Vacuum, Acceleration)
Test data review and test report authoring experience (Vibration, Shock, Thermal Cycling, Thermal Vacuum, Acceleration) - Production nonconformance disposition experience
Environmental requirements analysis capability (Dynamic and Thermal environments) - Solder Joint Fatigue Analysis Experience
- Cable and Connector design and production experience
- Test compliance matrix experience (Required vs as-tested environment test analysis)
