We are looking for you to join our team as a PCB Designer or Principal PCB Designer (ECAD Librarian Engineer) based out of McClellan, CA in the Sacramento area. This opportunity may also be available in San Jose, CA. Remote/Hybrid work may be a possibility but need to reside near the San Jose or Sacramento areas. What you’ll get to do:
Join our Hardware Engineering team and work on Northrop Grumman Sector-wide PCB Designs and NorCal PCB/ECAD Library related work. This work involves designing RF, Digital, Mix-signal and Power CCAs (layout, routing, and documentation) across multiple programs. In addition, you will be responsible for development and maintaining of library/cell/symbols used in circuit cards for electronic devices for the NorCal library.
This position works under guidance and direction toward predetermined goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated, and you will determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results. The work is checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by formal review of supervisor.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain symbol and cell generation libraries.
- Create and review library components, symbols, and cells in accordance with established NGC and IPC industry guidelines meeting high levels of accuracy. Interface directly with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Test Engineering to obtain information about requirements.
- Contact Component Engineering to clarify component specification discrepancies.
- Review, update, and create complex multi-layer designs for PCB’s and Flex circuits using the latest technologies (i.e. 3 and 3 spacing, BGA’s, micro vias, stacked micro via, high speed, and control impedance boards). Generate support documentation to meet NGC standards.
- Develop layer stackups working with engineering staff and external fabrication contractors.
- Incorporate complex change notices utilizing the CAD tools. Check designs, drawings and databases for accuracy.
- Attend/Support ERB/CCBs review and approve documents and provide hardware support as needed.
- Will be trained on Mentor Graphics (Xpedition) and/or Cadence Allegro
This position may be filled as a PCB Designer or Principal PCB Designer (ECAD Librarian Engineer).
Basic Qualifications for a PCB Designer (ECAD Librarian Engineer):
- High School Diploma/equivalent and 6 years of relevant experience or Associate's Degree and 4 years relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Understanding of PCB design concepts and terminology.
- Must be willing to work on library maintenance and development (training available for library parts creation).
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Basic Qualifications for a Principal PCB Designer (ECAD Librarian Engineer):
- High School Diploma/equivalent and 9 years of relevant experience or Associate's Degree and 7 years relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Understanding of PCB design concepts and terminology.
- Must be willing to work on library maintenance and development (training available for library parts creation).
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability obtain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- STEM degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology in PCB design and experience with PCB design for fabrication and PCB layer stackup for digital, RF, mixed signal, and power supply CCAs
- Experience working with IPC standards for cell creation in support of PCB layout, land patterns, and acceptance criteria.
- Experience with library maintenance and development.
- Experience with Mentor Graphics (Xpedition or VX2.8) software.
- Experience with Cadence Allegro software.
- Boardstation working knowledge
- Creo working knowledge
- V-Sure (Valor ODB++ output)
- Working knowledge of PCB/fab DFM rules
- Experience with Hyperlinx for matched impedance
- Experience with Mentor PADS (or PADS)
- Experience with DX Designer
