Mission Systems’ Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) Synergy organization is seeking a Senior Principal RF Microwave Design Engineer in Linthicum, MD, with a strong understanding of C++ and Python software development and either proven experience in modeling and simulation (M&S), or an interest to tailor their skills in support of mission-focused M&S. The new team member will report within the Installed Performance section of the SEIT Synergy department, where the teams within this section specialize in computational electromagnetics (CEM), RF antenna modeling in installed environments, subsystem design and analysis, specialized mechanical design and analysis, as well as material evaluation. Our engineering work supports full life-cycle programs including system design, system integration, hardware design, hardware integration and hands-on build and test.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Code generation and maintenance for a broad scope of computational algorithms and supporting user interfaces (some graphical) for advanced simulation tools.
This position will require some level of development supporting CI/CD
Research state-of-the-art (SoA) computational algorithms supporting electromagnetic simulations.
Team interaction with an array of mathematicians, physicists, and engineers, pulling expertise as needed to accomplish short-term and long-term development goals.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree with 9 years of experience, Master’s degree with 7 years of experience, Ph.D. with 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related technical fields.
U.S Citizenship with active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access after start
Minimum 9 years of related engineering or computer science experience (7 years with a Master’s degree)
Experience developing and testing C++ software in a scientific environment.
Experience with other software languages, in particular MATLAB, Python, and/or Fortran
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in computer engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
Active DoD Top Secret Clearance or higher
Knowledge of linear algebra algorithms (dense vs. sparse, iterative solvers, factorizations, etc.), and some working knowledge of linear algebra packages (e.g. LAPACK, BLAS, Pardiso, etc.)
Experience in parallel programming for distributed memory architectures (e.g. MPI, OpenCL, etc.)
Basic understanding of RF subsystem design with emphasis on Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs) and/or Receiver Exciter assemblies.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This position is contingent upon maintaining an active DoD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) after start.
