Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Design Integration Lead Manager 3. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
This selected candidate will report to the AVE System Engineering & Integration Director and will lead a team of approximately 10 mechanical, electrical and systems engineers of diverse backgrounds and skill sets to provide development work and oversight of the multi-billion-dollar AVE Segment's design integration work. This includes leadership of electrical design integration, mechanical design integration and mass properties efforts to create engineering products supporting the Sentinel missile. The manager is responsible for the successful delivery of each team’s products on time while adhering to Northrop Grumman’s quality-first standard.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Perform functional management duties for functionally reporting team members
- Ensure the organization is properly staffed, equipped, and trained to meet current and future program requirements.
- Ensure leadership and key subject matter expert succession plans are in place and be proactive by coaching and mentoring key talent to be able to assume increased responsibilities.
- Utilize effective talent management strategies to attract, retain, develop, and engage outstanding people for the organization.
- Provide organizational, programmatic, and technical guidance to team
- Drive a culture of compliance to command media, standards, and best practices
- Ensure high quality and timely delivery of process documents for downstream use
- Manage multiple program priorities on engineering deliverables
- Serve as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for your scope of work
- Develop schedules and budgets
- Track quantifiable progress using earned value methodologies
- Brief program status, risks, and technical challenges to consulting engineers, director, and vice president level leaders.
- Manage workloads and ensure staffing needs are fulfilled and projects are appropriately resourced
- Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with other organizations, including other disciplines in Systems Engineering & Integration. Including: Requirements and Verification, Interfaces and Architecture, Specialty Engineering and Modeling & Simulation.

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master’s Degree and 6 years of experience.
- 3 years of formal management experience to include performance reviews for direct reports.
- 1 year of CAM experience
- Active DoD Secret clearance adjudicated within the last 5 years
- Ability to obtain program special access
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with manufacturing, process development, design principles, and installation instructions desired
- Ability to create schedules/plans to drive design changes forward in a timely manner
- Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills including team building and navigation, personal and career development, technical and inter-personal problem resolution, work planning and allocation, etc.
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of engineering product release cycles
- Ability to create schedules/plans to drive design changes forward in a timely manner
- Clean sheet design experience
- Experience with NX and CPLM
- Experience with ECAD software including block diagrams, system wiring diagrams and build to print orders
- Familiarity with mass properties analysis reports to understand mass margin, mass growth allowance and limit weights
- 3D PMI manufacturing experience
- Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) and in using earned value reporting
- Experience in leading cross-functional project teams or engineering teams.
- Demonstrated behavior as a driver for change and continuous improvement.
- 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience leading a multi-functional team.
