Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Electrical Engineer to join the Command and Launch Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program.
Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience level.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will be part of the Command & Launch Systems Physical Security Hardware Design Team supporting the engineering, architectural development and requirements and verification maturation for Physical Security systems. Specific duties in this role will include:
Development of the intrusion detection, access control and video assessment systems for high value assets. Includes requirements and specifications development, model-based system engineering, product selection and development, interface definitions, system integration and testing, documentation generation, drawings development, installation instructions and maintenance instructions.
Gain a working knowledge of security industry software and hardware offerings and maintain a working knowledge of ongoing and future developments and improvements throughout the industry.
Ensure Physical Security System (PSS) design meets program specific requirements and Air Force and DoD general requirements, policies, and procedures for security of high priority assets
In addition to integrating with the PSS team, interface with other elements to include system and segment level teams
Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal
Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Relocation assistance may be available.

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of engineering experience; OR a Master’s Degree and 7 years’ experience; OR a PhD and 4 years’ experience
Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of engineering experience; OR a Master’s Degree and 3 years’ experience, OR a PhD and 0 years’ experience
Broad electrical and systems engineering experience, across multiple platforms, and/or encompassing the entire product development lifecycle.
Experience working on product teams
Knowledge of various data transmission formats (eg. Serial, TCP/IP, Fiber etc)
Must have U.S. Citizenship with an active Secret level clearance or higher, granted or investigated within last 6 years
Must have the ability to obtain, and maintain access to Special Access Programs (SAP) as a condition of continued employment
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience with physical security systems
Experience with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
Model Based Systems Engineering process and tool experience (DOORS and Cameo preferred)
Modelling and analysis experience (Matlab preferred)
Drawing generation experience (NX preferred)
Agile development process and tool familiarity (Jira and Confluence preferred)
AFI 31-101 and DoDM 5210.41M familiarity
Experience working DoD acquisition projects
