Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports at the Sentinel Program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
As the Electrical Design & Architecture Lead for the program's Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) test bed, duties will include but not limited to the following:
Analyze requirements and coordinate the results with AVE HWIL stakeholders to ensure the lifecycle functions, needs, and objectives of the test bed are captured and understood.
Evaluate and translate the user needs into testable functional, performance, and interface System Requirements and verification activities.
Define the functional architecture by decomposing and allocating system-level requirements and translating into detailed functional and performance design criteria.
Synthesize system functional and performance requirements into the physical architecture.
Examine Electronic Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) designs and allocate requirements based on existing equipment capabilities, identify modifications that close gaps in HWIL capability needs, and identify equipment limitations that put HWIL test objectives at risk.
Perform Trade Studies for Make/Buy decisions
Design electrical cable harnesses that meet interface requirements.
Oversee the overall HWIL grounding plan.
Release drawings for fabrication
Lead the team in the preparation of formal design reviews, including Critical Design Review, that accurately represents the final HWIL Design Package, and all supporting documentation that are necessary prior to entering the fabrication process.
Coordinate design progress with stakeholders throughout the HWIL lifecycle.
Ensure the creation of technical data packages for the HWIL test bed including the test bed concept of operations, interfaces, functional block diagrams, layouts, performance specifications, safety considerations, and security considerations.
Help to develop, plan, and execute qualification and acceptance test plans, support design and test audits and reviews.
Support program meetings, provide project status, and interface with a multi-discipline team.
Mentor junior electrical design engineers on the team.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Job Qualifications:
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 14 years’ experience; 12 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 9 years’ experience with a PhD
Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
Experience in electrical troubleshooting fundamentals
Experience with fundamental electrical Lab Test Equipment (Scope, DMM, PNA, etc…)
Electrical CAD Design Experience
Experience with Electrical Harnessing, Grounding, and/or Hardware Integration
Experience with serial and/or analog communications
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Experience with Electrical Design for Aerospace Applications
Apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts. Contributes to the development of new principles and concepts.
Siemens Mentor Capital for Electrical CAD Design Experience
Experience using Siemens Teamcenter Unified TcU for CAD Model and Product Data Management
Experience collaborating with Systems and Modeling and Simulation Engineering
Scripting experience (e.g. Python)
System Modeling Tool Experience (e.g. Simulink/LabView)
Familiarity with Atlassian Products including Jira and Confluence
Familiarity with Mechanical design tools
Experience Establishing and Managing a Drawing Tree
Working Knowledge of Systems Engineering Principles
Familiarity with the Northrop Grumman Test & Evaluation (T&E) Design Manual and other T&E Standards
Top Secret Clearance
Technical leadership experience and who has experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) integration and testing environment.
Knowledge of electrical engineering in the areas of digital, analog, circuit designs, and electronic components.
Technical expertise and confidence to operate with only limited technical oversight.
Capable of using lab equipment to troubleshoot hardware/software failures in support of HWIL integration and testing.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
