Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is seeking a Sr Principal Electrical Engineer on the Command and Launch System Integration team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force. This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP). PDPs consists of 2D drawings and 3D models (NX), various design analyses/assessments (structural/thermal), bill of materials and parts lists (Siemens Capital and Xpedition), and requirements (DOORS).
The selected candidate will support the Sentinel Program. Responsibilities include:
Support the PDP lead in designing electrical equipment, components, products, and systems.
Drive the design and development of the electrical portion of the System Integration owned the PDPs
Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed PDPs
Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives
Integrate System Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes
Identify gaps and holes within the design and/or requirements and provide a path froward for resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others while filling the gap/hole
Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications
Determine technical solution in accordance with product specifications and recommend actions to representatives for coordinated product solution
Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PDP development and release

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Job Qualifications:
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 9 years’ of related experience; 7 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 4 years’ experience with a PhD.
U.S. Citizenship and an ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
Able to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and ASME Y14.x suite of engineering drawing standards
Knowledge of design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations
Experience with design tools such as SolidWorks, TeamCenter/NX
Experience with Siemens Capital or other cable harness design tool suites
Experience with building engineering baselines
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
U.S. Citizenship and an Active Secret Security Clearance or higher awarded or reviewed in the last 6 years
Familiarity with systems engineering principles and processes
3 years of experience with cable routing within 3D model space
Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.).
ICBM Experience
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner
Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team
Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success
Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA
Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction
