The Digital Products Department (part of NG Strategic Space Systems) in Manhattan Beach, CA is seeking a talented Engineer Digital 5 - Responsible Design Engineer. This person will be required to develop, test, and integrate complex digital hardware and support test systems for spacecraft flight programs.

As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to leverage your knowledge and expertise to:

  • Lead and develop Conceptual Designs

  • Create Circuit Designs and analysis

  • Lead and develop unit level architecture, manufacturing, assembly and test

  • Lead or support Unit level verification

  • Coding in VHDL

  • Design Verification

We also provide opportunities to support other areas of interest within digital engineering as they become available.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) field, 14+ years of relevant experience in digital engineering or Master’s degree in STEM field with 12+ years of relevant experience in digital engineering or PhD. In STEM field with 9+ yeas of relevant experience

  • In addition to the expertise listed above, design engineering experience and being a focal point in one or more of the following areas: 

    • Circuit design and analysis

    • Manage requirements development and flow down

    • Digital communications

    • Digital signal processing

    • Network routing and/or switching applications

    • Embedded processors

    • Digital board design, digital board/unit verification, FPGA experience

    • Working in an engineering environment dealing with design, manufacturing and hardware troubleshooting

  • Ability to mentor and guide other engineers in the design engineering experiences above

  • Experience in leading digital engineering analysis such as Power Distribution, Timing, interface compatibility, signal integrity and derating/stress

  • Hands on lab experience and leading hardware troubleshooting efforts

  • Experience in leading different stages of design reviews

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and/or program access

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Excellent communication and writing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • STEM Master’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering field

  • Hands-on lab experience is highly desired

  • Experience with FPGA design

  • Experience in parts selection and managing parts procurement

  • 10 + years of design engineering experience listed above in Space Flight hardware or programs

Salary Range: $177,100 - $265,700
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
