Northrop Grumman Mission Systems, Digital Technologies Group, is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Digital FPGA Design Engineer for the development of power and control systems and products.
Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Principal FPGA Design Engineer or Sr. Principal FPGA Design Engineer for our Sykesville, Maryland location. This position can be filled at either level depending upon years of experience and qualifications.
What You'll Get To Do:
Design, development, creation and modification of digital logic designs implemented with Xilinx and Microsemi FPGA IDEs
Simulation and verification of FPGA logic designs, compliance requirements, and supporting validation at the system level
Work with members of multi‐functional teams to develop innovative solutions
Clear and effective communication to cross-functional team members
Documentation of design and analysis reports as well as test reports
This requisition may be filled as a Principal FPGA Design Engineer or Sr. Principal FPGA Design Engineer.
Basic Qualifications of Principal FPGA Design Engineer:
Bachelor’s in Science STEM degree with 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s Degree with 3 years of related experience; or a PhD with 0 years of related experience
Experience with the use of various FPGAs or the development of HDL (Verilog and VHDL) code within the corresponding IDE
Candidate must have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good oral and written presentation skills
Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance, per business requirements.
Basic Qualifications of Sr. Principal FPGA Design Engineer:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or STEM-related discipline with 9+ years of experience, or master’s degree and 7+ years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 4+ years of experience
Experience with the use of various FPGAs or the development of HDL (Verilog and VHDL) code within the corresponding IDE
Candidate must have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good oral and written presentation skills
Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance, per business requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related experience to include project management/IPT leadership, with experience leading a digital design team.
Experience with MATLAB and Simulink modeling and programming
Experience creating and managing to an FPGA build plan
Experience defining development test plans and/or methods
Experience with high level programming languages (C/C++)
Experience with scripting languages (Python)
Experience translating customer requirements and/or functional block diagrams into realized FPGA/Digital Logic Designs
Effective communication with systems and software teams for requirements, ICDs, handoffs, etc.
Able to work effectively within a development team to understand system level inter-dependencies and design constraints
Experience with the design lifecycle, leading a design from requirements through to verification and documentation
Active Secret clearance a plus
