Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an Electrical Engineer (Level 2) for a multi-faceted role supporting the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) Program. The role will be part of our Integration and Test group supporting engineering and manufacturing development efforts at our Chandler, AZ facility.
Job Responsibilities
The candidate will be part of the Integration and Test Development Lab group supporting the Next Generation Interceptor Program requiring the candidate to function in a dynamic multi-disciplinary environment. Responsibilities will require direct contact with launch vehicle flight hardware and solid rocket motors as part of engineering development, manufacturing, and field operations.
Specific Technical duties may include:
Set up and test hardware in a lab/bench top environment.
Develop test plans to support engineering development efforts.
Writing and reviewing assembly and test work instructions for manufacturing and field applications.
Executing subsystem and system level testing – both in engineering development and manufacturing environments.
Incorporating design changes on work in process or completed assemblies; documenting and dispositioning hardware discrepancies and pursuing root cause and corrective actions.
Writing technical documentation including test reports and technical presentations.
Help develop the concept of operation for integration and test activities.
Develop methodologies to improve the visibility of GSE status and locations; lead the tracking of required calibrations and certifications.
Work with the Government Property organization to manage government owned GSE.
Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate will be able to work independently and complete assigned tasks without direct supervision.
Ability to solve problems, support troubleshooting efforts, drive tasks to completion.
Ability to identify systemic problems and develop proposed solutions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present and interface directly with the customer community.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks concurrently.
Ability to work in a team environment and lead small projects or teams.
Experience working with design, integration, or testing of launch vehicles is highly desired.
Ability to lift/push/pull up to 40 pounds
Willing to occasionally work during odd hours (nights/weekends) and occasionally longer than normal (>40 hrs/wk) to meet program deadlines.
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum Education / Experience: Bachelors in Science in Electrical Engineering and 2 years relevant directly applicable experience OR 0 Years with Masters.
Skills to write test procedures and review test data to ensure that hardware is tested properly and has passed all required tests.
Hands on integration experience with multiple sub-systems or components is required.
Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. Passport for travel.
Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Northrop Grumman LV I&T standards/guidelines and expectations.
Experience or exposure to electronics production, testing, system integration, testing, and vehicle launch operations experience is highly preferred.
Experience with Northrop Grumman internal Manufacturing Execution Systems (Costpoint MES).
Experience working with operational hazards such as propulsive devices, pressurized systems, overhead lifting, and high voltage systems.
