Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add an Electronics Engineer – Field Operations OR Principal Electronics Engineer – Field Operations to our team at Beale AFB, CA. This position will be in our Avionics Integration Organization.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
This candidate will be responsible for the integrating and testing software/hardware systems in complex IT systems.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform datacenter hardware/software installation, configuration, and testing for both new systems and upgrades to existing complex IT systems
- Physically construct rack-based datacenter systems with a focus on safety, quality, and ease of repair
- Install system interconnect cabling for communications, audio, networking, and serial interfaces
- Interpret, markup/redline, and audit released engineering drawings
- Deploy and configure operating systems such as Windows, Linux, Solaris, and vMware ESXi
- Configure and markup system build guides/procedures for IT hardware such as switches, workstations, virtual machines, and Keyboard Video Mouse Audio (KVMA)/PCOIP devices
- Maintain system hardware/software configuration and troubleshoot issues as needed
- Execute both temporary and permanent changes to the system via established processes
- Provide expert software, hardware, and system support to on-site end-users.
- Support the engineering team(s) with software defect resolution and enhancement efforts
- Perform integrated logistics support (ILS) and inventory tracking for inbound and outbound hardware.
- Participate in offsite upgrades and system integration activities
The selected candidate will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working closely with engineers, technicians, and other on-site personnel. The candidate will be supporting a program where application of extensive technical expertise will be required to support a complex IT system.
This position can be filled at either the Electronics Engineer – Field Operations level or the Principal Electronics Engineer – Field Operations level, depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Electronics Engineer – Field Operations:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systems
- Demonstrated experience with VmWare
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security+ Certificate for administrators. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline.
- Demonstrated experience with Windows and Unix operating systems
- Demonstrated experience with VmWare
- Ability to obtain and maintain Security+ Certificate for administrators. This certificate must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications for both levels:
- Current Special Program Access
- Security+ certificate for administrators
- Mission Planning experience
- Previous experience with existing system
- Familiarity with storage systems and basic networking
- Familiarity with Solaris 10 and 11, Oracle OEM
- Familiarity Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory
- Familiarity VMware ESXi, VMware vCenter, and high-availability virtualized infrastructures
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
