Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector in Azusa, CA seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer (Level 4) to join our Next Generation Geo Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) payload software team. This role will report on-site daily. We can accommodate partial teleworking, but this is fully dependent upon business/program/team need.
As a selected candidate you can support the design, development, documentation, testing, integration, and debugging of software written in various computer languages but with emphasis on C++ OO. You can ensure software standards are met. Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 9 years of related software engineering experience OR a master’s degree in a STEM field with 7 years of related software engineering experience, OR a PhD in a STEM field & 4 years of related software engineering experience
- Demonstrated professional level experience in C/C++ (object-oriented) SW development and preferably experience working with embedded software.
- Experience with static code analysis tools to identify potential code issues and security vulnerabilities.
- Ability to interpret static analysis reports and apply necessary code improvements to enhance code quality.
- Understanding of multi-threaded applications.
- Understanding of socket-based applications.
- Experience with Containers/Docker
- Experience with Linux & Windows operating systems
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level clearance.
- Must be able to come on-site daily as remote/hybrid support may be limited.
Preferred Qualifications Either Level:
- Some experience with Java or Ruby SW development and the ability to rapidly adapt and learn other languages as needs arise.
- Knowledge of code refactoring techniques and strategies to address code smells and maintainability issues identified through static analysis.
- Familiarity with code review practices and the ability to provide constructive feedback to improve code quality.
- Knowledge of secure coding practices and experience using static code analysis to identify security weaknesses in C++ code.
- Experience with static code analysis tools SonarQube and Fortify to identify potential code issues and security vulnerabilities.
- Proficiency in using development tools, such as Git, CMake, and IDEs such as Visual Studio.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and analytic skills
- Thrive on colleague interactions and collaborations
- Proficiency in Agile development concepts, methodologies, and associated tools (Jira/Atlassian tools)
- Experience with requirements development, software design, architecture, and code
- Active and current DoD Secret level clearance or higher
