Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Responsible/Analysis Engineer OR Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Fuel Systems with experience in aircraft fuel subsystems development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
Key responsibilities may include:
Performing responsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of fuel system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting. These activities may also include participating on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.
Performing system related analysis, such as performance simulation, in support of the development of the fuel subsystem including integration with other aircraft subsystems.
System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
Attending internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
This role may be filled as an Engineer (level 2) or Principal Engineer (level 3) based on the qualifications outlined below.
Basic Qualifications:
Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 2 years of engineering experience
Principal Responsible/Analysis Engineer - Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 5 years of engineering experience, OR Master’s degree AND 3 years of engineering experience
Must have ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Must have professional experience related to the development and integration of fuel systems in either commercial or military aircraft applications
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with focus on thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer disciplines
Experience with aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft.
Experience performing thermodynamic, fluid mechanic and/or heat transfer analysis related to military/commercial aircraft and subsystems
Experience modeling fluid systems utilizing Amesim, MATLAB/Simulink, Thermal Desktop, Flomaster, and/or STAR-CCM+ software
Experience with the military airworthiness certification process using MIL-HDBK-516
Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures
Experience in supporting pursuits and proposals, including generating, reviewing, and approving technical proposals and BOEs
Demonstrated experience in leadership related to integrated product teams, including supplier and customer (internal and external) relations
