The Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Field Engineering team based in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Field Engineer to support our Combat Electro Magnetic Simulators at our Warner Robins Air Force Base, Georgia location. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate that enjoys learning and solving problems. You will have the opportunity to work on complex electronic warfare simulators alongside a multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for an individual that is passionate, driven, a self-starter, and goal oriented.
What You’ll get to Do:
The Field Engineer will provide Engineering support to resolve system level problems reported by the customer on delivered hardware. The Field Engineer will support the Electronic Warfare System equipment onsite, and at times will help support other locations by resolving issues over the phone (or occasionally traveling to customer sites). He/she will conduct technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors, and company representatives.
The successful candidate will have an extensive background in the operation and maintenance of complex RADAR, Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, complex commercial digital and RF equipment, or other electronics background, and will have experience testing, troubleshooting, and performing repairs. The Field Engineer will use commercial and specially designed test equipment to perform fault isolation and develop technical solutions. He/she will use Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems and knowledge of digital and RF test equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power meters.
The Field Engineer must be able to interact independently with customers and coordinate engineering efforts within the company to identify solutions to customer reported problems. Must be able to write reports for both customers and internal management.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Interact independently with customers and coordinate engineering efforts within the company to identify solutions to customer reported problems.
Provide Engineering support to resolve system level problems reported by the customer on delivered hardware.
Maintain operational status and configuration of Electronic Warfare Stimulators.
Utilize knowledge, special test equipment (STE), and instrumented data to troubleshoot/repair hardware failures
Support customer missions, monitor and convey stimulator performance and assist with generating new emitters.
Generate weekly status reports documenting test events and anomalies warranting further investigation.
This position is contingent upon clearance and funding.
Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Field Engineer :
Bachelor’s degree plus 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience; or an Associate's degree plus 11 years of relevant experience; or 13 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%).
Ability to change physical locations based upon need.
Ability to frequently move and position objects weighing 50 lbs.
Ability to undergo training at the Northrop Grumman site in Buffalo, NY for up to 2 weeks prior to working Warner Robins
Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (or higher) that has been granted or renewed within the last 5 years or is currently enrolled in continuous evaluation
Enjoys troubleshooting & solving problems and a strong desire to understand how the system works
Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a calm, patient demeaner in front of the customer.
Experience working with the operation and maintenance of complex RADAR, Electronic Warfare (EW) systems, complex commercial digital and RF equipment, or other electronics background
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field
Software knowledge (the following will be considered: Windows PowerShell or Batch file experience or Linux command line experience, utilization of editors to modify config files or XML knowledge).
Understanding of services or protocols that run on a Linux Server
Security+ certification
