Northrop Grumman Missions Systems is currently seeking a Consulting Chief Engineer at our Rolling Meadows, IL facility. This position is within Engineering and Sciences providing technical direction to the Aircraft Survivability (ACS) business unit engineering team and partnering with business unit leaders.
Key responsibilities include:
This role requires an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness to lead the technical planning and execution across multiple complex programs. Candidate will apply and/or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts within our Infrared Countermeasures (IRCM) technology area. This role requires clear communication with senior executives within the division, across the Mission Systems Sector and within other areas of the corporation where technologies are being developed that support our ACS business. Performance in this role will be done with a high degree of discretion and latitude over multiple simultaneous ACS projects. Work accomplished supports long-range strategic goals by way of technology and product roadmap development as well as tactical oversight, and at times direct program engagement to resolve technical issues. Serves as consultant to top management in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of development and advancements and will often support competitive proposal development. Ensures our engineering teams are adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, production, test, and sustainment of products for our customers and are in compliance with company policies, procedures, and quality standards. Prime spokesperson to both internal and external stakeholders on ACS technical capabilities and future directions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Domain expertise within the IRCM technology area
- Current/Active Top Secret clearance
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must be able to obtain Special Access Program access
- Must have a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline
- 10+ years experience in sensor system architecture and product development
- 20 years engineering experience with Bachelors, 18 years with masters, 15 years with PhD
- Demonstrated leadership in developing large multifunction engineering teams
- Candidate should have proven experience in developing and maintaining customer relationships
- Platform/ prime level engineering experience
- Must be willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in IRCM system architecture and product development
- Demonstrated experience in establishing product line development and support
- Experience in multi-sensor fusion
- Demonstrated success balancing technical and business decisions
- Experience in optimizing multi-disciplinary methods, analysis, and processes
- Experience and/or training in Earned Value Management Systems
- Excellent technical writing skills
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills required to work closely with both internal staff and external customers and partners
