Sr Principal Chief Engineer

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems an opening for a Integrated Product Team (IPT)-Sr. Principal Chief Engineer Lead to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals.  This position will be located in Baltimore, MD.

What You'll Get To Do:
This individual will lead a cross-discipline engineering team typically greater than 5 people for a low to medium risk project and interface with Engineering & Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Mission Assurance.  The selected candidate will perform in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings.  The selected candidate is expected to be self-motivated, highly

organized, detail oriented, and possess effective verbal and written

communication skills.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead and direct cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, manufacturing, and delivery phases of products in development and production phases
• Support proposal development and new program acquisition efforts
• Interpret statements of work assigned by program leadership
• Develop and execute to project budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts
• Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing
• Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements
• Brief internal and customer leadership on progress of work assigned

Basic Qualifications: 

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or STEM-related discipline with a minimum of 9 years related experience, or Masters Degree and a minimum of 7 years related experience or a PhD degree and 4 years related experience. An additional 4 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to acquire and maintain a minimum Interim Secret clearance prior to start.
• Experience as Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead, Technical lead, or other leadership role in a program office or business function with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership experience in a team environment.
• Basic understanding of the Design, Manufacturing, or Test process.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) managing Earned Value Management System (EVMS) projects.
• Fluency with developing and executing project schedules.
• PMP certification a plus.
• Active and current Top-Secret government clearance

This role is contingent upon the ability to acquire and maintain a minimum Interim Secret clearance prior to start.
