Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Senior Engineering Director. This position will be located in Baltimore, MD and will lead the Airborne Sensors Engineering team, reporting to the AMS E&S Vice President. As the Senior Engineering Director, this position will be responsible for leading a highly dynamic, growing multi-discipline engineering team of approximately 1,000 employees.
What you’ll get to do:
Lead the technical roadmap strategy development
Ensure the business is appropriately staffed and enable resource sharing across multiple business areas
Lead strategic actions to improve the business of engineering
Work with cross discipline engineering team members across programs
Drive engineering strategy and practice, pertinent to all the E&S AMS portfolio, including but not limited to investments, talent strategy etc.
Grow the headcount with continued, strong focus on retention efforts, engagement initiatives, critical skills/critical needs, and diversity
Drive key talent development and workforce planning efforts
Elevate engineering rigor, build consensus and resolve conflict
Drive predictable financial and program results
Prioritize engineering investments aligned with strategic imperatives
Demonstrate thought leadership on digital transformation
Collaborate with business area leadership, and other functional partners to resolve complex issues in a timely manner to help meet program commitments
This position is contingent upon successful transfer of an active DoD Secret Clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 12 years of experience, a Master's degree with 10 years of experience, or a PhD with 8 years of experience in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.
U.S Citizenship is required.
A final active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
10 years of experience in the defense or aerospace industries
5 years demonstrated success managing/leading multiple engineering technical teams across programs
5 years of experience working in a technical role
Proven experience as a team player and collaborator
Experience with engineering in multiple program phases
Knowledge of engineering process with execution experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineer, or Mathematics or other related technical fields.
Active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance or higher.
Program management experience
Success as leader of large functional organization
Experience managing large control accounts
Experience with product line management
Proven success in creating and executing affordability initiatives
