Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Manager 3, Launch Equipment with the background, vision, and people skills to lead the Launch Equipment organization within the Command & Launch (C&L) Infrastructure Integrated Product Team (IPT). This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The Launch Equipment Manager is responsible for the design and development of a suite of electromechanical equipment that comprise the Mission Equipment and Consoles & Furnishment subsystems. This role oversees a Mission Equipment design team and a Consoles & Furnishment Subsystems design team, each responsible for the engineering associated with their respective areas of the C&L architecture.
Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:
Setting a vision for and leading a team of engineers and management staff to execute the Launch Equipment scope of work.
Performing financial and performance analyses to develop and implement long-term staffing plans and process improvements.
Providing mentorship and growth opportunities to the Launch Equipment team and growing a strong leadership bench.
Driving on-time delivery of Launch Equipment work products to support the design timelines of the Mission Subsystems organization.
Utilizing earned value management and other financial tools to plan, execute, and report status.
Supporting the integrated planning of complex interdependent projects to support Sentinel program milestones, balancing prioritization of Engineering resources between competing projects and teams.
Ensuring schedules and program plans are credible, substantiated by quantitative data, and bounded by risks and opportunities.
Supporting a comprehensive risk and opportunity management program for the Infrastructure IPT.
Negotiating competing priorities and interests across a wide range of internal and external stakeholder communities to pursue the best course of action for the Sentinel program.
Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with a wide range of distinct customer communities, subcontractors, and industry partners.
Providing regular briefings, reports, and other communications to executive leadership.
Ensuring adherence to the Sentinel technical baseline and associated processes for the Launch Equipment team.
Balancing stringent quality standards for technical artifacts (e.g. Product Data Packages) with the rapid pace of procurement, fabrication, and construction of test assets and early prototypes.
Making informed decisions between conflicting technical approaches based upon program and IPT-level cost, schedule, and technical impacts and risk.
May be required to travel up to 25% of the time.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline with 8 years of hardware product development experience or Master's Degree with 6 years of relevant experience
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
Must have the ability to obtain a Special Access Program (SAP) Clearance.
At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
3+ years’ in a formal lead/management position in the Aerospace and Defense industry.
3+ years’ experience with design and development of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Active DoD Top Secret with SAP clearance
Experience with CAD modeling software, especially NX
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
Cost Account Manager training and/or experience managing programs or subcontracts in an Earned Value framework
Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
