Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space System Division has an opening for a Sr Principal Engineer Material Process - Printed Circuit Board (PCB), to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, California.
Essential Functions:
Have a high degree of knowledge of materials and processes (M&P) used in the design and fabrication of Hi-Reliability Printed Wiring/Circuit Boards (PWB/PCB). Experience with materials selection, design, drawings, plating, PWB processes, producibility, test procedures and qualification of PWBs. Have a high degree of knowledge/understanding of the industry specifications used for design and fabrication of rigid and flex PWBs including IPC-6011, IPC-6012, IPC-6013, and IPC-6018 among others. Take ownership of tasks, oversee delegated tasks, check results for accuracy and document the results. Participate in design reviews, program reviews, vendor qualification, failure analysis, trade studies and qualification review boards in support of PWB related issues. Formulate detailed instructions/test plans and be the lead in their execution with a proven understanding of data analysis methodologies and knowledge of design and manufacturing processes. Collaborate closely with PWB Subject Matter Experts, PWB suppliers, procurement, design, manufacturing, and quality engineers as well as functional management.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) plus 8 years of engineering experience OR Master of Science in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline plus 6 years of engineering experience.
High knowledge of M&P used in the design and fabrication of PWBs (Rigid, RF and Flex) for space applications.
High Knowledge of PWB design, fabrication and PWB vendor oversight and related IPC specifications.
Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.
Proven experience developing and executing test plans for analysis and qualification of PWBs, materials or processes.
Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance OR SCI access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in STEM
Knowledge of electronics design and Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) processes is a plus.
