Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer or Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.
This position may be hired at a higher level.
The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering Team working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer develops requirements, performs technical planning, manufacturing system development/integration, verification, and validation, and evaluates cost (implementation, savings and return on investment) and implementation/program risk impacts. Manufacturing systems engineers follow projects through all manufacturing readiness level phases: concept development, design, fabrication/assembly/test at lab level, production environment demo, full production operations implementation, sustainment/maintenance/ continuous improvement. These projects focus on advanced and emerging manufacturing capabilities/digital technologies with the goal of improving overall production manufacturing quality, span times/time to market and reduce cost. Leads project technical proposal/SOW writing & estimating while ensuring systemic conversion of requirements to design, implementation, and production validations. Manages project cost and schedule through all phases and execution of transition to production activities of the developed systems to program and functional manufacturing spaces.
Basic Qualifications Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Level 2):
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 2 or more years of experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace, and manufacturing/production; OR Master's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 0 or more years of experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace, and manufacturing/production
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access
Basic Qualifications Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer (Level 3):
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 5 or more years of experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace, and manufacturing/production; OR Master's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus 3 or more years of experience in aviation, systems engineering, aerospace, and manufacturing/production; OR PHD plus 0 or more years of experience
Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access
Preferred Qualifications:
A current and active DoD Secret level security clearance with a periodic re-investigation OR an original adjudication date completed within the last 5 years

Project management experience
Composites experience
Ability to travel 25% of the time
