We are looking for you to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer based out of Apopka, FL. As a Manufacturing Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Using Model-based Engineering and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. **This position may be filled as a Manufacturing Engineer-2 or Principal Manufacturing Engineer-3 based on the qualifications below.
Core Responsibilities:
- Accountable for technical ownership of process, optimization, and disposition including top level and subassemblies.
- Accountable for creation and maintenance of manufacturing Work Orders and Routers, disposition of non-conforming parts and assemblies via site Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Support of manufacturing capacity planning optimization for responsible production lines.
- Provides technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
- Support of Digital Thread initiatives.
- Accountable for process control, quality, safety, delivery, and rework metrics for responsible production lines.
- Accountable for creation and release of Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM), Manufacturing Changes (MC), Work Instructions/Manufacturing Process Plans (MPP), and Standard Manufacturing Process (SMP) documents via site Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
- Support of manufacturing proposals & basis-of-estimates (BOE’s) for potential contracts.
Basic Qualifications
Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2):
- Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or production manufacturing operation; OR
Master's degree with 0 years of experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or manufacturing operations.
Note: An additional 4 years of exempt/professional-level experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or production manufacturing operation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. - Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
- Solid presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas.
- Commitment to ethics and compliance
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
- Ability for infrequent travel (<10%)
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) secret clearance.
Manufacturing Engineer (Level 3):
- Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or production manufacturing operation; OR
Master's degree with 3 years of experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or manufacturing operations.
Note: An additional 4 years of exempt/professional-level experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or production manufacturing operation experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. - Solid written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Aerospace or defense product experience: in particular Electro-Optical Infrared (EOIR) Systems, Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER), Optics and Imaging.
- Complete understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field.
- General knowledge of other related disciplines.
- Passion and relentless drive for achieving manufacturing and operational results.
- Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) problem solving and Continuous Improvement (CI).
- Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/A).
- Experience with Process control method (SPC/control charts).
- Experience with Process Capability Analysis (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk ).
- Broad technical experience in value stream manufacturing operations.
- Experience with Risk Management identification and mitigation.
- Action oriented with ability to make quick decisions in response to changing conditions.
- Experience with a Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
- Experience with a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System
- TeamCenter Mission Product Life-cycle Management experience
- SAP S/4 HANA Cloud ERP system experience
- Proficiency in CAD Software (SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX)
- Digital Manufacturing/Manufacturing Distributed Network (MDN) implementation experience
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Teams Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
