Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Structural Dynamics Engineer in support of an advanced development program on our Vehicle Engineering team. This position will be in Melbourne, FL and relocation assistance is available. CURRENT CLEARANCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED.
Job Summary:
The Structural Dynamics Engineer acts as a subject matter expert specializing in vehicle structural dynamics supporting an advanced development program. Will serve as technical lead in all matters related to vibration, vibro-acoustics, shock response and environment generation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in structural dynamic analysis with concentration in flow-structure coupling, aeroacoustics analysis, and random vibration analysis. In addition, the successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter and will be proactive, forward-thinking, and able to lead a small team to rapid resolution of complex problems.
Position may be filled as a Principal Engineer (level 3) or Senior Principal Engineer (level 4) depending on the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Structural Dynamics Engineer: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5+ years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in a relevant STEM discipline and 3+ years of relevant experience; OR Ph.D. in a relevant STEM discipline and 1+ years of relevant experience
Sr Principal Structural Dynamics Engineer: BS in a relevant STEM discipline and 9+ years of related experience; OR MS in a relevant STEM discipline and 7+ years of related experience; OR a Ph.D. in a relevant STEM discipline and 4+ years of related experience
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering with an emphasis in aircraft loads and dynamics (flight loads, ground loads, flutter and aeroelasticity, etc.)
Current active DoD Secret clearance or higher (with background investigation completed within the last 6 years or under continuous evaluation)
Strong foundation in structural dynamic analysis with concentration in flow-structure coupling, aeroacoustics analysis, and random vibration analysis
Experience with vibration, vibro-acoustics, shock response, and environment generation
Experience in the use of industry standard loads and dynamics analysis software: NASTRAN, PATRAN, FEMAP, ZONAIR, ZAERO
Experience with MATLAB and CAD Tools (NX)
