Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector Manufacturing Operations Engineering Organization is seeking a Senior Principal Industrial Engineer. This position is located at our manufacturing facility near BWI Airport.

The Senior Principal Industrial Engineer will be assigned to lead a team of cell IE’s with responsibility for multiple manufacturing cells.
A Lead IE works closely with a team of cell IE’s and the cell leadership team to:
Monitor labor performance and develop plans for improvement.
Monitor capital resource loading and develop plans for capacity management.
Conduct studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
Coordinate facility capital plan execution.
Define and document process designs (product routings).
Use and maintain models for standard work assignment.
Lead Continuous Improvement activities (e.g. 5-S, VSM, 6-Sigma).
Support Digital Transformation and World Class Operations initiatives.
Develop and document standardized processes to support Industrial Engineering activities.
Create and deliver training to Industrial Engineers and production teams to support skill / knowledge development.
Onboard, coach, and/or mentor new and early career Industrial Engineers.
Contribute to Northrop Grumman knowledge sharing opportunities by authoring a technical (white) paper and/or presenting an innovative idea at the Sector Industrial Engineering Community meeting.
This job may allow hybrid telecommuting. Hybrid telecommuting means that once you are up-to-speed, you may work from home up to 2 days per week. You will need to be onsite the other days each week.
Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal:
Bachelor’s of Science degree or higher in Engineering or other STEM area
8 years of relevant experience in operations; or Master's degree and 6 years of experience, or PhD and 4 years of experience will be considered
Industrial Engineering experience or Manufacturing experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Industrial Engineering
An advanced degree (MS)
Professional experience in industrial engineering
Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
Experience in defense, aerospace, or automotive industries
Technical experience working in a manufacturing/production environment.
