The Emerging Capabilities Development organization of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an exceptionally talented, motivated, and creative Semiconductor Assembly Process Engineer for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs.
Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Silicon Germanium, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, and Silicon Carbide) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman’s ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems. Roles and Responsibilities:
The main area of focus will be in the Semiconductor Assembly Process Engineer which encompasses Environmental Testing and Burn-in. The selected candidate will have responsibility for:
-Sustaining production
-Designing and executing process/equipment improvement projects
-Developing new processes based on production and development program requirements
-Evaluate, design, and improve process
-Establishing standard operating procedures and engaging the operations team to ensure these are followed
-Supporting statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement efforts
-Training technicians and maintaining process documentation

Basic Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics, Mathematics, Environmental Science or closely related technical major with 1 year of relevant experience
-Must be familiar in backend semiconductor processing
-Candidate must possess good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, problems solving skills with ability to work with a diverse group of people including technicians, engineers and management
-Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (US citizenship required)
-Must be able to work 2nd shift hrs (3pm-12am)
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in lean manufacturing practices and structured problem-solving methodology
-Familiarity with Advanced Packaging (Bumped die, MCMs, IPAs)
-Experience with DOEs, JMP, Minitab, Statistical analysis
-Experience leading and guiding the production teams
-Experience developing technical specifications for process material procurement
-Experience developing technical specifications for equipment procurement
-Active Secret clearance
