The Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Semiconductor Industrial Engineer to support Operations and Industrial Engineering activities for our Advanced Technology Lab (ATL) - located outside of Baltimore, Maryland - where we design, manufacture, and test semiconductor products for internal and commercial production customers as well as emerging technology programs. Northrop Grumman’s ATL semiconductor foundry is a unique capability supporting a range of production microelectronic devices (Silicon, Gallium Arsenide, Gallium Nitride, Silicon Carbide, Carbon Nanotubes) and providing leading edge technology development in superconducting electronics. Our devices enable a number of Northrop Grumman’s ground-based radars, avionic radars, and space systems. Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will be a mid to senior level engineer with a robust background in industrial engineering and microelectronics manufacturing that will support ATLs Superconducting Electronics (SCE) technology line. Specifically, the candidate should have experience in implementing industrial engineering best practices, capacity modeling and WIP planning, building Tableau reports, and database management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving production efficiency, and defining new metrics for the production floor. The Semiconductor Industrial Engineer should also have a demonstrated track record of working and communicating with upper management and customer representatives as well as be a self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervisor oversight.
This position requires work on site in Northrop Grumman Baltimore, MD area facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Optimize and analyze manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and productivity in a high-mix microelectronics fabrication environment.
Utilize Tableau for data visualization and reporting to support decision-making processes.
Manage and analyze databases to drive insights and continuous improvement initiatives.
Oversee Work In-Progress (WIP) planning, line balancing, and capacity modeling to ensure optimal production flow.
Collaborate and lead cross-functional teams to identify and address process bottlenecks and implement best practices.
Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and improve operational performance.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Semiconductor Industrial Engineer:
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or any related STEM degree with 5 years relevant industry experience or Masters with a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience or PhD with 0 years’ experience.
Proficiency in Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
Strong understanding of microelectronics manufacturing techniques and processes.
Experience in WIP planning, line balancing, and capacity modeling specifically in ramping/opening new production lines.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
US Citizenship required
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Semiconductor Operations Engineer:
Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or any related STEM degree with 8 years relevant industry experience or Masters with 6 years relevant industry experience or PhD with 3 years’ experience.
Proficiency in Tableau for data visualization and reporting.
Strong understanding of microelectronics manufacturing techniques and processes.
Experience in WIP planning, line balancing, and capacity modeling specifically in ramping/opening new production lines.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance
US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
TS/SCI clearance
Experience with C/C++, Python, APF Formatter reports and database management.
Experience with machine learning and its applications in manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
Familiarity with advanced microelectronics fabrication technologies.
Experience with static and dynamic capacity modeling using modeling and simulation software.
