Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer. This position will be located at our site in Iuka, Mississippi where technology and teamwork come together.
The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Engineering Team working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.
**This position requires an on-site presence in Iuka, MS and cannot be performed remotely. **
Manufacturing Engineers for Aeronautics Systems are expected to provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex and difficult problems. They are problem solvers who have the ability to provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organization objectives.
We seek Manufacturing Engineers that use a unique skill set that includes a hands-on approach and act as the technical representative voice for the Manufacturing organization.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will design and develop manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Other duties may include:
- Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
- Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
- Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
- Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
- Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 9 years of experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or manufacturing operations; OR Master's Degree with 7 years of experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or manufacturing operations; OR PhD with 4 years of experience in engineering, production assembly/fabrication or manufacturing operations
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance, including Special Access Program within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Experience with reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience with root cause & corrective action processes and techniques
- Ability to work any shift as needed by the business.
Preferred Qualifications:
- STEM Degree (Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematical)
- Composites knowledge (i.e. hand layup, automated layup, cure experience, and/or machining experience)
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Experience authoring, modifying, and auditing work procedures
- Able to utilize Catia V5 and/or NX
- Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment
- Secret or Top-Secret clearance
