Northrop Grumman has an opening for a Structural Engineer (Dynamics)/Principal Structural Engineer (Dynamics) for our Clearfield, Utah location!
We perform cradle-to-grave analysis, design, and manufacturing for state of the art commercial and military programs. Our team works with cutting edge exotic materials and novel products to innovate within our mission, working across the facility supporting large composite structures. The ideal candidate enjoys applying engineering fundamentals and active problem solving. You are an inquisitive problem solver, self-sufficient, and determined with a positive attitude.
Travel can vary by program and tasks but is minimal (less than 10%). Our team works a 9/80 schedule, which gives you every other Friday off to pursue interests outside the office.
Essential Functions:
- Perform static and dynamic analysis of composite and metallic parts and assemblies.
- Able to manipulate large scale finite element models that support internal loads development.
- Conduct modal and random vibration analysis for product design and to establish fatigue life.
- Excellent communication and people skills required to work with key stakeholders within other engineering disciplines.
This role may be filled at a Structural Engineer or Principal Structural Engineer based on the qualifications outlined below.
Structural Engineer
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 2 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with composite and metallic materials including allowables
- Experience with finite element analysis
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. This clearance must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Principal Structural Engineer
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) with 5 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with composite and metallic materials including allowables
- Experience with finite element analysis
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. This clearance must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience creating fatigue allowables from test data
- Experience with acoustic environments
- Experience with Nastran/Patran/Femap/Abaqus
- General understanding of Aerospace practices, policies, and procedures
- Detail orientated, self-starter, ability to work both independently and in a team
- Experience leading engineers in structural analysis
- Active DoD Secret clearance
