Northrop Grumman Corporation is a world-class manufacturer of composite structures, radomes, and antenna systems for military applications. We design and manufacturer solutions for our war fighters to keep our country safe and maintain peace on a global scale. We are looking for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will be located in Clearfield, UT
This role will support manufacturing of large composite structures, repairs, work instructions and shop aids. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Interpreting customer furnished drawings and specifications, author work instructions for fabrication, work closely with program office, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, training and operations to solve production high driver defects. The selected candidate will be identified as a composites subject matter expert and provide manufacturing support to multiple programs.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter seeking autonomy and possesses both strong written and verbal communication skills. He/she should enjoy collaborating with others of varying backgrounds and roles, including but not limited to Production, Maintenance, and Quality, in a fast-paced environment to solve time-sensitive problems. We are a tight-knit team, and we enjoy working together to reach our mutual goals.
* The individuals selected will work the Day shift from 6am – 4:30pm Monday - Thursday on a 4/10 schedule.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment, or Masters Degree in a STEM field and 3 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment, or a PHD
- Proven experience with process engineering or manufacturing engineering
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
- Solid understanding of root cause / corrective action (RCCA) processes and techniques
- Experience using RCCA tools such as Five Why, Pareto, fishbone, etc.
- Knowledge of composite hand layup, fiber placement, and/or composite machining
- Experience with Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Experience drafting, maintaining, and modifying work instructions and/or process specifications
- Microsoft Office experience, specifically with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
