Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal / Principal Structural Engineer to join the Command and Launch Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level will be based on experience.
What You’ll Get To Do:
The qualified candidate will perform structural analysis on and define structural requirements for the GBSD Launch Equipment (LE) Mechanical Systems (MS). The role will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
Development and capture of engineering specifications for metallic and non-metallic structures for all phases of the product like cycle, from preliminary design to sustainment
Conduct structural analysis including loads evaluation and static/dynamic conditions, stress, stability, fatigue and thermal loading
Analysis performed using hand calculation or finite element software packages such as ABAQUS and ANSYS
Receive instruction from senior engineers and handle multiple tasks in parallel

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Relocation assistance may be available
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master’s Degree; 0 years with PhD
Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of experience; 7 years with Master’s Degree; 4 years with PhD
Experience running static and dynamic structural analysis
Proficient post-processing data using MATLAB and EXCEL
Proficient technical writer and able to verbally communicate technical content
US citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Proficiency with ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, and ANSYS
Exposure to structural test applications
Exposure to missile programs & with propulsion
Active DoD Secret clearance granted or re-investigated within last 6 years
