Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) has an opening for a Section Manager Mechanical Engineering 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.
The Section Manager (SM) position is a dual role comprised of 80% program technical contributions and 20% functional management responsibilities. You will lead a growing statement of work for one of six sections within the Mechanisms & Deployable Products Department. You will lead and support a group of approximately 12 engineering leads and individual contributors. SM duties involve coordinating staff assignments, maintaining staffing forecasts, recruiting and retaining talent, supporting staff development and engagement, technical mentorship, conducting staff performance evaluations, upholding process compliance, meeting department goals, and authoring/reviewing program proposals. As an individual contributor, you will support program execution, drive hardware maturation, and enable innovative solutions for our Space Systems or Directed Energy programs.
This position reports directly to the Department Manager of the Mechanisms & Deployable Products (MDP) Department within the Vehicle and Software Engineering (VSE) Directorate. The successful candidate will be solution focused, methodically organized, independently directed, a highly motivated self-starter, and able to perform effectively with concurrent tasking. The successful candidate will also possess strong communication, leadership, and team building skills.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in a STEM Discipline with 5 years of engineering experience
Ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret and SCI clearances
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with previous leadership experience
Experience with Geometric Dimensions & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Experience with whole product Lifecyle, from development through production
Experience with moving mechanical assemblies
Active Top Secret and SCI Clearances
