Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Propulsion Division has an opening for a Propulsion Engineer/ Principal Propulsion Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Brigham City, UT or Magna, UT.
Description
Successful candidates will become subject matter experts for their assigned launch vehicle ordnance system component. Engineers will manage requirements, design, qualification, and test/verification activities for their hardware. Department engineers will be the primary technical contact and interface for both suppliers and our customer(s).
Skills/Knowledge
A candidate well qualified for this position should have the following demonstrated skills and experience:
Understanding of project engineering and project management fundamentals, earned value management, proposals, work break down structures, statements of work, contract fundamentals, and government contracting
Ability and skills to work in cross functional project teams
Knowledge of systems engineering, requirements definition, requirements flow, interface management, and requirements verification.
A thorough knowledge of engineering methods, principals, and tools in common use in the aerospace & defense industry today.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Experience working in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field in CAD/PAD, Military Ordnance, or Launch Vehicle energetic devices - design, development, & qualification:

CDF, CDFI, CDFM
Electro Explosive Devices (EED)
Initiators and Detonators

Experience in many aspects of aerospace design development processes including design, analysis, testing and integration
Thermal Cycle
Vibration Testing
Thermal Vacuum
Shock Testing (Pyro, Shaker, MIPS)
Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI)
HERO (Hazard of Electromagnetic Radiation to Ordnance) testing
Assembling test plans and detailed schedules to accomplish an engineering effort
Product testing or validation testing, preferably system level tests demonstrating interaction between subsystems or major elements
Participation in developing formal interfaces between parts of a system
Familiarity of requirement sets and system architectural approach necessary for spaceflight systems (ordnance, high reliability electronics, thrust vector control, flight safety systems)

Basic Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Propulsion Engineer, Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ aerospace / ordnance engineering experience, or 0 years with a MS
Position can be filled one level higher, Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ aerospace / ordnance engineering experience, or 3 years with a MS
Proficient with Microsoft suite
Ability to obtain ATF employee possessor status
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
