Northrop Grumman Space System's Launch Vehicles team is currently seeking a Quality Engineer OR Principal Quality Engineer to join our team in Chandler, AZ.
Role Description & Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting manufacturing and test activities for electronic assemblies used in various space launch vehicles. Specific duties may include: supporting development of processes and procedures for the assembly and test of mechanical/electronic assemblies; reviewing and approving drawings; documenting and dispositioning hardware discrepancies and pursuing root cause and corrective actions; supporting required MRB processing; perform inspection of components and assemblies; supporting manufacturing activities with supervisors, program engineers and various customer organizations; reviewing design changes on WIP or completed assemblies; analyzing data for trends and recommending changes to improve process and product quality, interfacing with suppliers for auditing and corrective action/continuous improvement related to component assemblies and parts.
If this is you, you will:
Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducting quality assurance tests; and performing statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
Ensure that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
This is a dual level req, which can be filled as a Quality Engineer OR Principal Quality Engineer.
Basic Qualifications:
For level 2: Quality Engineer: 2 year's relevant post-graduation experience with a Bachelor’s of Science or Master's Degree + 0 year's of experience
For level 3: Principal Quality Engineer: 5 year's relevant post-graduation experience with Bachelor of Science or 3 year's relevant experience with Masters or PhD with O year's experience
Additional Required Skills
Ability to obtain security clearance.
Ideal candidate shall possess related work experience working with mechanical/electrical assemblies, pneumatic systems, structures, and tooling.
Work related experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
Proficient at planning /organization, and decision-making skills.
Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
Active security clearance.
A demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated issues both technical and procedural.
Discrepancy Reporting and MRB is highly desirable.
System integration and range safety experience a plus.
Extensive Root Cause and Problem-Solving experience is highly desirable.
Experience working with TipQa, MES, and CostPoint software is a Plus
