Northrup Grumman Space Systems has an opportunity for a Principal or Senior Principal Mission Assurance Engineer to join the Payload and Ground Systems Division’s Quality Management System (QMS) Team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be located at any PGS Division operating location and has the possibility to be remote. The QMS Team provides quality system support for the PGS Division portfolio of programs. Join the Space PGS Division in its Drive for Excellence and work with our team of experts in developing and delivering Space PGS systems and solutions that keep our world safe.

The Mission Assurance Engineer will develop, implement, modify, and maintain performance management methods, systems, processes, procedures and tools necessary for the success of PGS Division’s portfolio of programs.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the compiling and presentation of PGS Division performance data in various venues such as BU and Division level PCABs, and Division Mission Assurance Dashboards. This candidate will work closely with the other members of the QMS team, Functional Leaders at the Division, BU, OU and Program level, as well as Functional Leaders across the NGSpace Sector and other Northrop Grumman Sectors.

Characteristics of an Effective Performance Management Lead include:

Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills – especially in geographically disperse and virtual environments. Highly developed organizational and planning skills to concurrently manage a variety of tasks and shift focus easily from macro-level to micro-level topics. Expertise in prioritizing tasks, making timely decisions, and following through on commitments with excellent attention to detail. Ability to clearly communicate at all levels of the organization with messages appropriately tailored based on the audience. Solid understanding of program execution drivers and roles of supporting business functions. Ability to analyze situations from several points of view and be persuasive with data-driven details and facts. Ability to work in a self-directed and independent fashion – a proactive attitude to identify what needs to be done rather than waiting to be told what to do.

Duties and Responsibilities: Support the PGS Division QMS-Performance Management Lead in providing performance management leadership for all levels of the PGS Division. Improve effectiveness of systems, processes and policies through data-driven performance management in support of the organization’s mission across all areas of the Division. Utilize monitoring, analysis, evaluation techniques and visualization tools such as Tableau, Excel and SQL to provide forward looking data. Compile and present PGS Division performance data in various venues such as BU and Division level PCABs and Division Mission Assurance Dashboards. Closely coordinate with Mission Assurance, Global Supply Chain, Business Management, Business Development, Security, Information Technology, Legal, and Facilities to ensure effective support of Division operations. Collaborate with other NGSpace Divisions, NGSpace and Northrop Grumman Sector Functionals to enhance and improve the performance management process. Work closely with the Division QMS Team Lead in establishing and executing budgeting and financial goals. Serve as the PGS Division primary point of contact (POC) for essential performance management tools such as but not limited to IPRS, NGPro, QAF, PEF. Architect and ensure the PGS Division MA and QMS SharePoint pages and other shared resources are maintained. Collaborate with OU, BU and Division Functional Leaders across PGSD to affect positive change. Collaborate and actively participate in NGMS CCBs for key performance management tools used by PGS Division organizations. Work in compliance with company policies and procedures 

Basic Qualifications for Principal Mission Assurance Engineer: 

  • BS within a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline from an accredited college with a minimum 5 years of relevant experience;  3 years with a Masters; 0 years with a PhD. 4 additional years of relative experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge, skill or experience in Mission Assurance, Process Engineering, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or Data Management 
  • Strong in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action, Control of Documented Information and Record Management 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Tableau, Excel, SQL and SharePoint 
  • Ability to support multiple Programs throughout the PGS Division 
  • Working knowledge of the architecture, interworking and function of NGPro, IPRS, PEF, QAF 
  • Technical expertise to solve complex problems with only general direction 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills 
  • Experience in AS9100 Performance Evaluation compliance 
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance 

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Mission Assurance Engineer: 

  • BS within a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline from an accredited college with a minimum 9 years of relevant experience; 7 years with a Masters; 4 years with a PhD 
  • Knowledge, skill or experience in Mission Assurance, Process Engineering, Data Analytics, Software Engineering, or Data Management 
  • Extensive experience in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action, Control of Documented Information and Record Management 
  • Extensive understanding of the architecture, interworking and function of NGPro, IPRS, PEF, QAF 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Tableau, Excel, SQL and SharePoint 
  • Ability to support multiple Programs throughout the PGS Division 
  • Extensive technical expertise to solve complex problems without appreciable direction 
  • Strong communication and presentation skills 
  • Experience in AS9100 Performance Evaluation compliance 
  • Experience in the development and delivery of training 
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Lean/6 Sigma Trained
  • Working knowledge of HQMS, TipQA, CPATS, Nimbus, Power BI
  • Experience supporting an agile and/or dev ops software development environment-
  • Experience using UNIX, LINUX, JIRA, Git and BitBucket
  • Active TS/SCI

Salary Range: $95,100 - $142,700
Salary Range 2: $117,900 - $176,900
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
