Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Program Quality Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Program Quality Engineer:
- Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
- Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
- Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
- Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
- Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
- Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
- May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
- May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
- Drives quality outcomes for suppliers and operations.
This position may be filled at the Quality Engineer (level 2) or Principal Quality Engineer (level 3) level, depending on experience.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:
- Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field
- Relevant experience of 2+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 1+ Year(s) with Masters; 0+ Year(s) with PhD
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, US citizenship
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication skills and confidence to brief senior management
- Foundation in Quality and Mission Excellence applications
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues
Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:
- Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field
- Relevant experience of 5+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 3+ Years with Masters; 0+ Year(s) with PhD
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, US citizenship
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, communication skills and confidence to brief senior management
- Foundation in Quality and Mission Excellence applications
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams to resolve problems or issues
Preferred Qualifications for Both Levels:
- Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six-sigma
- Data Analytics and Statistical Analysis methods and techniques.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, Minitab, Tableau, or equivalent tools for statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with Drive for Excellence (DFX), Zero Defects Program (ZDP) supplier quality and sustainment concepts.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques
- IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS) and/or MIL-STD-883 Certified.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-600, 620, IPC-J-STD-001, Mil-Perf-38534/35 and Mil-Std-750.
- SAP familiarity with Quality Notifications, Production Orders and Purchase Orders.
- Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 Quality Management System and First Article Inspections (FAI) AS9102.
