Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Senior Principal Engineering Mission Assurance to join our team in Iuka, MS.
The Mission Assurance Team defines and monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of campus programs. We assure quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers are in accordance with contractual requirements. We assess program performance and risks and help to determine resources to ensure contract compliance.
This role will be the Chief, Mission Assurance Engineer for our team, and will work with leadership to develop and refine our processes to drive industry leading quality principals into the products we manufacture.
Responsibilities include the following:
Authoring documentation to instruct operations on successful execution of quality requirements
Direct interface with DoD DCMA Customer representative to monitor, audit and drive superior program level quality performance
Manage and coordinate non-conformance containment and corrective action implementation activities
Establish, maintain and drive successful training program for Quality Analyst and Engineers
Functional oversight of Iuka Site Quality Corrective Action program
Submit MRB nonconformance’s for corrective dispositions
Lead data collection, analysis, and customer interface
Write and manage risk mitigation actions and assuring their implementation
Contribute to design change control reviews and implementation
Support internal audits, process observations and area assessments
Establish and maintain collaboration partnership across functions and programs, customers, program management, internal agencies and other support organizations
Brief quality performance to all levels of Northrop Grumman and customers
The primary shift will be A shift (7 AM - 5:30 PM) but will rotate shifts to support all managers with processes and training. Work schedules can vary, but we strive for a 9/80 work week, which gives us every other Friday off to pursue interests outside of the office. B Shift Production: 7PM –530 AM, Monday - Thursday (4x10’s)
C Shift Production: 7AM - 730 PM, Friday - Sunday (3x12's)
D Shift Production: 7PM - 730 AM, Friday - Sunday (3x12's)
Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal Quality Engineer:
Bachelor's in Science; Must be a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) degree and 9 plus years of experience; OR Master's Degree and 7 plus years of experience; OR PhD and 4 plus years of experience
Knowledge of Inspection Plans and First Article Inspections
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access
Prior manufacturing experience and background in Composites
Ability to read and interpret GD&T drawings
Knowledge of Rapid Response Teams, Root Cause and Corrective Action methods and MRB process
Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
Experience in developing and/or implementing Mission Assurance or Quality Assurance plans
Experience with quality management systems to support program processes, audits, and improvement
Solid written and verbal interpersonal, communication skills and confidence to brief senior management with solid foundation in Mission Assurance applications
Good understanding of the specific AS9100 Standards impacting program performance
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced and functional oversite developing / approving Inspection Plans and First Article Inspections with program level impact
Advance knowledge of AS9100 and AS9102 Standards impacting program level audit performance
Functional responsibility and oversight of Rapid Response Teams, Root Cause and Corrective Action methods and MRB process training and MRB authority
Direct interaction with DoD DCMA customer representatives, and active duty military program office
Ability to prioritize complex tasks and meeting VP level deadlines.
Demonstrates strong leadership, developed successful quality inspection plans & programs and direct DoD / civilian customer interaction with successful program execution results
Executive level customer interaction related to answering Customer Action Request and maintain superior program metrics
Experience with Mission Assurance Engineering and Quality Engineering program level processes and oversite
Experience in process monitoring, data collection, analysis, and metric reporting for overall program and segments
Technical composite structural knowledge
Entire-product-lifecycle Systems Engineering experience
Comprehensive understanding of technical requirements for composites and the dynamic properties of composites
Leadership experience within manufacturing and engineering environments.
