Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Software Engineer / Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The selected candidate will be responsible for software development for the MASC-F (Modeling and Simulation – Framework) program, performing analysis and technical support of systems software products, including resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
Essential Functions:
- Working within an Agile team environment, to include Program Increment Planning, Iteration Planning, Feature and Story development, Sprint Planning, and Iteration Retrospectives.
- Creating and running automated software builds and pipelines in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environment
- Participating in demos for the team and program Sprint reviews
- Collaborating with Stakeholders and Government customers
- Writing programs using C++, Java or similar languages
- Developing software documentation
- Creating and running unit test

Basic Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either a Software Engineer or a Principal Software Engineer level.
- Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience.
- Principal Software Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.
- Candidate is expected to be proficient in C++.
- Experience with GitLab/Git for software configuration management
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS
- Experience programming network connections (message generation, formatting, UDP and TCP/IP interfaces)
- Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD issued secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automation or analysis
- Agile Scrum experience
- Experience with Java and user interfaces
- Experience with Jira - issue tracking and agile project management, or similar tool
- Multi-core and multi-threaded programming
- Familiarity with MDA Sensors and missile defense systems
- A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Top Secret security clearance.
