The Software team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Sr Principal Software Engineer - Database Administrator based out of Pt Mugu, CA near our Camarillo, CA site. Come work with us near the beach with a growing diverse team!
If you are an experienced Database Administrator or have Software Development experience with the ability to design, develop and administer complex databases using tools such as SQL, WE WANT YOU!
What you will get to do:
Work as a self-starter, work with minimal direct supervision.
Work in an Agile environment.
Implements and maintains smooth operation of databases.
Conducts performance tuning of indexes and databases.
Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements.
Formulates policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
Able to work collaboratively in a team environment with other highly motivated system/network administrators, software developers, and mission planners.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years of relative experience; OR Master’s Degree with 7+ years of relative experience or in lieu of a degree, an additional 4+ years of experience is required.
Proficiency in systems and database management
The ability to design, develop, and administer complex databases using a database language such as SQL OR similar database languages to SQL.
Familiarity with database management best practices.
Experience implementing database schema architectures such as the coding and design of stored procedures, foreign keys, table relationships, etc.
Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL
Strong verbal communication and customer service skills in a teamwork environment
US Citizenship and must have Interim Secret clearance prior to starting. Once started, must have the ability to obtain and maintain Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a containerized environment with Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate within the NGC various sites as well as with customers.
Experience with high level coding languages such as C#, C++, PowerShell, VBA, etc.
Experience with Azure DevOps / TFS and Git
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
