Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal DevOps Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Software organization. This role is located in Rancho Bernardo, CA and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has some Hybrid work available.
As an integral part of our Software Configuration team, you will focus on being a part of a team to develop, enforce, and maintain Software Configuration Management (SCM) processes on large- and small-scale programs in accordance with the Organization’s Standard Software Process (OSSP) and contractual requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products
Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable
Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development
Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use
Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use
Train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards
Apply sound software engineering principles, metrics, and ensure compliance with all published processes and standards in our technical solutions
Ensure deliverables meet technical quality, cost & schedule objectives
Excellent communication, mentoring, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees
Basic Qualifications for a DevOps Engineer:
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM related field with 5 years’ experience, OR master’s Degree with 6 years’ experience,
Must have experience with coordinating/creating configured builds for test and delivery
Understanding of SCM principles, concepts, industry practices and standards is required
Must have knowledge of scripting languages
Experience with multiple tools and environments (Git, Bitbucket, Jira, ClearCase, ClearQuest, Linux and Windows)
Experience with static code analysis and code coverage
Experience with one or more Software languages/technologies: C/C++, Java, Python, C#
Active DoD Secret clearance or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with implementing SCM on a large-scale program
Experience with configuration and administration of DevOps tools, CI/CD concepts, and automated build pipelines
Experience in development and maintenance of Jenkins Pipelines & scripts
