Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Modeling & Simulation Applications Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview:
As a Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer, the candidate will work with the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) on the Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Applications team.
Essential Functions:
- Design, implement, integrate, test, and support the software development lifecycle with peer reviews, documentation, and configuration management, adhering to the Agile development process.
Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience, or 6 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Work experience or college coursework/projects that required significant time developing in Java and a similar language.
- Ability and willingness to travel locally up-to 30% to support business needs.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Software development experience using Java on a Linux platform is desired.
- Experience using C++ or other object-oriented programming languages is desired.
- Experience working in an Agile development environment and process using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, NEXUS, and GitLab is highly desired.
