Northrop Grumman PGS has an opening for a Sr Principal Software Engineer (Site Reliability Engineer) to support the operations of a critical system located on-site at two locations in the Colorado Springs area. This role will be 25% in a government customer facility at Schriever SFB, and 75% at an NG facility in Colorado Springs, CO.
This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work.
This position will include a comprehensive training course intended to provide knowledge of a complex operational system of systems. At the completion of training, the employee will be responsible for working with other team members from other organizations in troubleshooting system issues as they arise additionally the role will collaborate with engineering in enhancing and improving, and deploying existing and new tools.
The Site Operations team is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who will be responsible for the following:
- Monitor and Troubleshoot of real world operations and issues as they arise
- Review or development of standard operating procedures that are executed real time on the operational system for standard events and anomaly recoveries
- Developing scripts and products to automate the operations of complex systems
- Create/Enhance new/existing dashboards monitoring production environments
- Make recommendations for improvements on production software
This requisition may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4, depending on the candidate’s experience as laid out in the basic qualifications detailed below as well as the interview assessment.

Basic Qualifications**:
Level 3 -
- 5 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's degree; 3 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's degree; 0 Years of relevant experience with a completed PhD; An additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required with additional experience)
- Must have an Active/Current Top Secret security Clearance with SCI eligibility and be willing to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph
- Experience with Linux Operating Systems
- Experience with scripting languages such as bash or programming languages
- Exercise and demonstrate root cause identification, triage, and mitigation
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication and documentation skills
- Strong desire for continuous learning and improvement in a fast-paced dynamic organization
Level 4 -
- 9 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's degree; 7 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's degree; 4 Years of relevant experience with a completed PhD; An additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required with additional experience)

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work as an effective member of a badgeless team, be self-motivated, and work under general direction while independently determining and developing approaches to solutions
- Makes suggestions or recommendations along the way improve automatic issue identification and routing
- Experience with Application Monitoring tooling such as Splunk, Logstash, Grafana
- Experience with Software development lifecycle
- Understands large-scale complex systems
- Awareness of latest SRE/software trends
- Experience with Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS)
- Experience with container and orchestration technologies (Docker, Elastic Beanstalk, Kubernetes, etc)
- Experience with Atlassian Suite
